We’ve got our first family confirmed! Shannon LeVan is a mother to four amazing children, as well as the owner of Buzy Moms Organize, a company that provides services to improve self-care and help moms get their home and small businesses organized.
“I got into unschooling this past year because my oldest missed the cut off for kindergarten, due to her birthday being 2 days past the extended deadline. As a former teacher and lover of play-based learning, I decided that if I couldn’t find the best learning environment for my kids then I would create my own. I went to the bookstore to find some info on homeschooling. That’s when I came across this book “The Homeschool Handbook”, it was so riveting I read like 3 chapters in the store. Once I hit the section on Unschooling I was hooked. I knew that would work for me, because I am a strong advocate for practical application of learned skills. Kids learn by doing, through play, through living. There are so many ways things that we “normally” do that can teach children skills and knowledge that they need to do. So, that is how it all began.” – Shannon
